For more than 20 years, my work as an architect closely involved disabled people and access issues. Since 1997, I have concentrated on my work as a disability access consultant.
During my career, I have:
- Worked on over 1000 access audits
- Run disability knowledge training sessions for designers
- Organised wheelchair basketball matches for disabled and other people
- Run awareness training sessions for employees
- Set up and served on access groups
- Involved disabled people in design and auditing processes
I produce Access Statements and I also assist local authortities in providing access comments
on Planning and Building Regulation applications. I provide a port of call for some authorities
to refer local businesses to for free advice over the phone. I can also quickly
provide Access and Disability Act Appraisals from desk top studies of project drawings.
