For more than 30 years, my work as an architect has closely involved disabled people and access issues. Since 1997,
I have concentrated on my work as a disability access consultant.
My involvement with disabled people and knowledge of disability factors enables me to provide practical solutions
in addition to the guidance standards and regulations.
During my career, I have:
- Worked on over 2000 access audits
- Run disability knowledge training sessions for designers
- Run disability awareness training sessions for employees
- Organised wheelchair basketball matches for disabled and other people
- Set up and served on access groups
- Involved disabled people in design and auditing processes
I produce Access Statements, Access Appraisals and Desk Top Studies for projects. I also assist
Local Authorities in providing access comments on Planning and Building Regulation applications. I provide a port
of call for some authorities to refer local businesses to for free advice over the phone.
