Not all discrimination cases go to a court of law. Below is an example of compensation received after negotiation.
DDA settlement
A disabled customer with NatWest has received £5,000 compensation after
complaining for four years that he was unable to get inside his local bank.
Kevin Caulfield, a wheelchair user, used the conciliation service offered by the
Disability Rights Commission (DRC) to negotiate an agreement with NatWest to
pay him £5,000 compensation for the poor service he received.
NatWest apologised for not answering letters on the matter and has installed temporary ramps at the bank. For further information visit the DRC website www.drc-gb.org
